Queen Victoria

Queen Victoria
(born 1819, reigned 1839 - 1901)
Victoria had a gift for drawing and painting; educated by a governess at home, she was a natural diarist and kept a regular journal throughout her life. On William IV's death in 1837, she became Queen at the age of 18.
Queen Victoria is associated with Britain's great age of industrial expansion, economic progress and, especially, empire. At her death, it was said, Britain had a worldwide empire on which the sun never set.
In the early part of her reign, she was influenced by two men: her first Prime Minister, Lord Melbourne, and her husband, Prince Albert, whom she married in 1840. Both men taught her much about how to be a ruler in a 'constitutional monarchy' where the monarch had very few powers but could use much influence.

5 Interesting things about the anglo saxon
1. Thei administration were divided into shires, mainly according to the terrotory of the first tribes, the shire was divided into hundreds,or in the danelaw, wapentakes.
- 2. Also the way they traveled was very cool which i found impresive as well they use the main routes which could be a risky bussiness.
3. The people would fight for another people's village or land for that matter they were imperalists.
4. One of the things that caugth my attention about the anglo-saxos times was the food. some of the things that they ate were mostly crops that they crop they were like vegetarians, and also
made cereal and as the base for beer.honey was the only sweeterner in use,and it was used to make the alcoholic beverage mead. and also major meats were pigs,as were cattle, goats, and sheeps.horses and oxens were raised for heavy farm labour and for transportation, though the stirrup had yet to make an appearance from the far east.

5. The CRIME from before was better in someways because they didnt have jails. so they punished the people by cuting something out of their body like the nose or fingers or pay the family depenting what was the crime. well now and days theres jails and people do years in there depenting on the crime they did.

my favorite part of GRENDEL

This is my favorite part of GRENDEL When darkness had grooped, grendel Went up to herot, wondering what the warriors would do in that hall when their drinking was done. He found them sprawled in sleep suspecting nothing, their dream undisturbed. the monster's thoughts were as quick as his greed or his claws: He slipped though the door and there in the silence snatched up thirty men, smashed them unknowing in their beds and ran out with their bodies, The blood dripping behind him, back to lair, delighted with his night's slaughter.
